FREE INVASIVE SPECIES IDENTIFICATION

4-H KNITTERS SOUGHT
Do you already knit? Would you like to learn to knit? Then join Emily the second Tuesday of each month for a community service opportunity. We will make as many preemie/newborn baby hats as we can and donate them to our local hospitals. All beginners and skilled knitters welcome!

FROM HARVEST TO HOLIDAYS: Fresh Wreath Making Workshop
November 12, 4-H Camp Shankitunk, Delhi
Participants will create a seasonal wreath or swag using fresh evergreens harvested on site. This wreath will be accented with a bow consisting of fall colors. After the fall season, this wreath can transition to a holiday wreath with the addition of festive accents and a bow. All materials will be provided, but bringing sharp pruners is recommended. Snacks will be provided.
Part I: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Free). Join us on a walk around Camp Shankitunk to learn about different evergreens, and the sustainable harvest of their boughs for floral design.
Part II: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. ($5). Gather in the main hall for an afternoon of festive creativity. You will learn how to select, bundle, and assemble greenery into a stunning display. Some decorations will be provided, but feel free to bring your own accents (silk flowers, bulbs, etc.).
All are welcome to attend one or both classes. Part II is limited to 30 participants, and pre-registration is required before November 6th. To register, call 607-865-6531
FREE ENERGY WORKSHOPS PLANNED
Fall is the perfect time to take some steps to make your home more energy efficient. Each workshop participant or household will receive free information and a courtesy CFL (compact fluorescent light bulb) to use in their homes.
CCE will be conducting NYSERDA's Free Energy workshops titled "EMPOWER Save Energy, Save Dollars" at the following locations.

4-H STEM WORKSHOP
Green Gems of the Forest: Moss, Liverworts & Lichens
November 5, 1pm-4pm, 4-H Camp Shankitunk, Delhi
Attention budding biologists! Want to learn more about the tiny, but ecologically important organisms that thrive in our forests? Join us for an afternoon of scouting, observation, and sustainable sample collection. We’ll learn about the life cycles, habitats, and microscopic structures of these woodland treasures. At the end of the workshop, you will construct a small terrarium to take home. Healthy snacks will be provided. The class size is limited to 20 participants, and pre-registration is required by October 31st. Cost is $5, which will be collected at the workshop.
